Brendan Anthony at Big Fish Lounge July 29th @ 3pm

Sunday -7/29 (3-6pm) – Brendan Anthony Born and bred in Northern NJ, everything changed for Brendan early on when he discovered his older brother’s music collection and albums by The Who, Neil Young and The Rolling Stones. As time went by his neighborhood became filled with vibrant live music coming from either a basement across the street or garage next door. Within that live music grew a desire to emulate his guitar heroes, so a big brother’s gift of an acoustic guitar was cherished. Brendan’s first live performance was his 8th grade graduation playing The Beatles ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ to a standing room only auditorium. Fast forward a decade to his original rock band, Sin River, working hard and gigging multiple nights a week in the tri-state area, including Asbury Park’s Stone Pony and NYC’s Irving Plaza. A trip to Hollywood, CA to play the famed Roxy Nightclub was a highlight during a tough mid 90’s music scene. Fast forward another decade to a room full of music lovers at The Back Fence. It was at this legendary Greenwich Village bar that Brendan gigged many a time. He got to jam with Kiefer Sutherland, have Don McLean’s neighbor join him on ‘American Pie’, and on St Paddy’s Day 2011, The Back Fence rang up a record daytime cash total as he kept the packed room singing along with a mixture of Irish and classic rock songs. Playing the shore post-Sandy was an honor and healing process; Brendan’s family has been heading down the shore since he was a toddler. The shore music scene will always be close to his heart and the memories of a wide eyed teen sneaking into a Seaside Heights bar to see a Springsteen tribute band always brings a smile. Brendan’s goals are simple: To provide a good time listening experience that can be enjoyed both as background jukebox sounds and as a sing-along experience; For the listener to get to know him thru his guitar playing and voice where you’re taken back to those early times of an inspired kid up in his bedroom playing guitar to his favorite records. Music is the fountain of youth. “Best set of music I’ve heard since I’ve been managing here!” Rob from On The Deck, Atlantic Highlands, NJ
